FileZilla is one of the most popular desktop FTP clients in use today. In addition to being free and open source, it is easy to use and configure. There are versions available for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

  1. If you’re a Debian user, you will be able to install the software by doing the following. First, open up a terminal window by pressing Ctrl + Alt + T or Ctrl + Shift + T on the keyboard. Then, use the apt-get install command below to get FileZilla. Sudo apt-get install filezilla.
  2. We strongly recommend to use Debian 10 or later (recommended) Setting up the build environment. As root, execute: dpkg -add-architecture i386 apt update apt install automake autoconf libtool make gettext lzip apt install mingw-w64 pkg-config wx-common wine wine32 wine-binfmt subversion git Back as normal user, execute.

  1. Download the desired edition of the FileZilla client. For use with ExaVault, the standard (free!) version of the client will have all the features you need.
  2. Follow the installation prompts. Use the default options for installation.

  • Ubuntu and Debian can install with apt-get at terminal:
    • Download the b-zipped source tarball from the FileZilla project page.
    • At terminal, extract the downloaded tarball:
    • Change into the extracted directory, configure and run make:
    • Login as Super User (alternatively, sudo) and compile:
