It is a good change; people throughout the world are beginning to realize the significance of health. More and more people are getting into a healthy routine, working out every day, and letting go of unhealthy things they used to adore at some point in life. Weight management is an important aspect of health. Being underweight or overweight can have a great impact on our overall health. From activeness, efficiency, to strength and even mental health can all be affected by the weight of our body.

Chromium is an essential trace element required for normal carbohydrate metabolism. The biological function of chromium is closely associated with that of insulin and most chromium-stimulated reactions are also insulin dependent. Proper chromium nutrition leads to a decreased requirement for insulin and also an improved blood lipid profile. Chromium might help keep blood sugar levels normal by improving the way our bodies use insulin.

Know Your Body Type

What do you do to keep your weight in the ideal and healthy range? Do you exercise, follow a diet, or take supplements? Well, before you get to it, you should know how the body structure health is calculated.

Chromium Metabolism Within Human Body

What Is Body Mass Index

The first thing you should know about your body is the body mass index. Every person, kid or elderly, has a body mass index which is commonly abbreviated as BMI. BMI is the measure of the appropriateness of one’s weight about their height. The purpose of BMI is to define whether a person is fit, obese, or undernourished in each age group.

You should keep in mind that if a person’s BMI is over 30, they will fall under the category of obese, and they are overweight if their BMI is over 27 but below 30. Excessive body fat is one of the prime reasons for overweight, and any individual who is not willing to join the obese club needs to take several steps.

Have You Considered Metabolism Boosters

One of the effective ways to reduce weight is to take metabolism boosters. Sometimes, the diet-and-exercise approach does not give out expected results. In such situations, it may get frustrating to continue the same. You might want to know: How does metabolism booster work? Let us understand it:

What Are Metabolism & Metabolic Rate

Metabolism is a chemical process that involves the conversion of all the nutrients you consume, such as proteins, carbohydrates, and fats, etc., into energy that your body requires to function optimally. The rate at which the conversion of the nutrients takes place is called the metabolic rate. In other words, it is the amount of time your body takes to burn energy or calories you consumed through the food.

How Do Metabolism Boosters Work

Metabolism boosters may work in different ways depending upon what kind of it you take. The most popular process, however, is thermogenesis. This is the process that most metabolic supplements claim to use. Thermogenesis increases heat production in your body that simulates energy use and helps you burn out calories fasters. This way, all the fat that your body consumes gets used up instead of getting collected.

The metabolism boosters claim to contain a variety of ingredients to help you speed up the metabolic process and burn fats faster. Some of the ingredients that are popularly used in metabolic boosters include caffeine, L-carnitine, capsaicin, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and chromium picolinate, etc.

The ingredients help you regulate metabolic rate in a manner that energy gets used, and basal metabolic rate (BMR) does not lead to pound-addition to your body. In case you do not know, the basal metabolic rate is the amount of energy that your body needs to maintain the basic functions such as breathing and hearing while you’re in the rest mode.

Metabolism Supplements Use Green Tea

Some of the metabolism supplements even have green tea as one of the primary ingredients. As per research, green tea can play a significant role in your weight loss efforts. The catechins and caffeine found in green tea may support weight maintenance. Not only is green tea a great metabolism helper, but it also contains natural anti-oxidant that help prevent cell damage and provide many more health benefits.

If you are looking for a metabolism booster, you can check it out at both online platforms and brick-and-mortar stores. While online, you can even search category-wise like best weight loss pills for women or men, etc, and you can get all the relevant results. Always look for ingredients and impact-related details before you make the purchase. That will help you!

If you are also having trouble keeping your body fat in the limit, you can try one of the supplements that enhance the metabolism. This is a great way to reduce weight without losing your appetite. Unlike appetite suppressants, metabolism boosters, in fact, raise your appetite, which is very important for your workouts and body energy.

Make sure you don’t have any allergies to any of the ingredients mentioned on the pack you buy. You can consult your doctor for more information and advice. Keep track of what you eat and your workout routine. Pair up your health routine with supplements, and you will have great results. Now, you are all set to go.

KemTRACE® Chromium is a breakthrough technology for Equine Metabolic Syndrome and performance horses, now included in all E-TEC® and EQUI-PRO® Poulin Grain Equine feeds.

What is Chromium?

Chromium is an essential trace element for horses, playing an important role in supporting healthy metabolism of carbohydrates in the diet. As a component of Glucose Tolerance Factor (GTF), chromium helps activate insulin receptors, improving glucose uptake in the cells, and helping to maintain normal blood sugar levels. In short, chromium puts glucose to work where it is most effectively used by the horse for immune function, growth, performance and overall health.

As leaders in animal nutrition, we take care to include only technologies with proven merit and efficacy, adding the most outstanding value to your horse's feed. Chromium is found in differing amounts in everyday feedstuffs, but the ability to benefit the horse varies greatly among sources. KemTRACE® Chromium is a highly bioavailable, organic source of chromium propionate, backed by millions of dollars and decades of research, and the first FDA approved product of its kind on the equine market.

What is Glucose?

Carbohydrates (starches and sugars) and fats supply the bulk of the energy in a horse’s diet. During digestion, carbohydrates are broken down into glucose, which the body’s cells depend on to fuel normal function, growth and performance. Approximately 60% of a horse’s daily intake is utilized for basic life functions such as digestion and respiration, then the remainder of glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscle, or used for the horse’s secondary needs such as growth, performance, and immune function.

But before the glucose can be utilized for these functions, it must be mobilized from the horse’s blood supply, into the body’s tissues. This is where insulin and chromium come in.

How Do Insulin and Chromium Work?

Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, is the “gatekeeper” allowing glucose in the bloodstream to enter the cell and be used for energy production1. Chromium improves insulin function by increasing receptor activation eight fold2, improving glucose uptake by the cells, and helping to maintain normal blood sugar levels. Maximizing the cells’ glucose use allows the horse to utilize the energy provided in the diet more effectively for body upkeep, health, growth and performance.

Chromium Effects on the Metabolic Horse:

Chromium For Metabolism

Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) is a term used to describe horses with metabolic and hormonal disorders, often identified by obesity, insulin resistance, and laminitis. “Easy keepers” and thrifty breeds such as ponies are often predisposed.

Insulin resistant horses have elevated blood glucose levels for extended periods, due to insulin’s decreased ability to transfer glucose into the body’s cells. In response to elevated blood glucose levels, the body continues to produce insulin, attempting to mobilize this glucose into the body’s tissues. The high prevalence of insulin in turn, often leads to laminitis.

Chromium improves insulin sensitivity, helps to clear glucose from the blood stream, and may improve health of horses suffering from EMS. Added Chromium is ideal for horses with elevated blood sugar that do not respond to a low sugar/starch diet.

Chromium Effects on the Performance Horse:

  • Improved Immune function: immune cells are completely reliant on glucose for energy3. Increased glucose uptake by cells may help improve the horse’s ability to mount an immune response.
  • Reduced stress: Stressors such as extreme weather, diet changes, travel, exercise, disease, training, and competition trigger cortisol production, and in turn cause aggressive behavior, suppressed immunity, and increased risk of gastric ulcers, colic, or diarrhea4. Chromium reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, reducing negative impacts of stress on the horse5.
  • Improved Performance: Horses with low muscle glycogen levels due to intense exercise, prolonged, or consecutive days of training or competition can show fatigue and impaired performance6. By increasing glucose uptake in skeletal muscle cells, and replenishing glycogen stores, Chromium may improve the horse’s overall performance, and reduce the onset of exercise related fatigue. Research also shows evidence that chromium supplementation may help some horses with chronic exertional rhabdomyolysis, also known as “tying up”, by clearing blood glucose, and making glycogen storage and use more efficient in the muscle tissue7.

KemTRACE® Chromium is now included in all E-TEC® and EQUI-PRO® Super Premium Poulin Grain Equine feeds.

The ingredient can be identified on feed tags as 'Chromium Propionate.'
