3D4Medical, a Dublin, Ireland-based provider of 3D lessons for anatomy education, has been acquired by Elsevier, the company best known for its academic journals. Raidió Teilifís Éireann reports that the deal was worth €46 million (approximately US $50.6 million).

Founded in 2004, 3D4Medical offers educational videos, quizzes and other interactive resources for anatomy subjects, and claims its materials are used in more than 300 universities. It also offers an app that the company says has been downloaded more than 25 million times, according to a prepared statement. The company has 75 employees.
